About Christian I

Christian I was born in 1560, the son of Augustus, Duke of Saxony and Anna, Princess of Denmark. Christian’s aunt, Anna of Saxony, was the second wife of Prince William of Orange. In his youth he was fostered with Louis of Nassau, the younger brother of Prince William. After his father’s death in 1586, Christian became the Duke of Saxony at age 26.
